Our Mission
At GC Roofing, our mission is to serve people and businesses throughout the state of California by taking care of their contracting and roofing needs. We are dedicated to being the best contractor to building owners, investors, property managers and tenants. We are passionate about investing in our employees through training and giving back to our community.
Our Story
In August of 1980, Gerry and Carol Thiesen, joined the Conklin Company. Their products were cutting edge and the training was unmatched by any other company in the industry during that time. However, it was the big picture, that of investing their lives into people that drove them to launch their business, G & C Enterprises. Based on Gerry’s years of experience in the construction field, they set about building a commercial specialty roofing business for the next 28 years.
G & C Enterprises began working from an office in their living room. The first vehicle they worked out of was a 1976 Chevy van, but the business grew to include multiple trucks, trailers and other equipment. They started with installing roofs on mobile homes and small back yard patios. To date, the company has installed roofing systems on roofs as large as 7.5 acres, has waterproofed underground buildings as well as AG buildings 120 feet high, Geodesic domes, and walk decks.
Gerry and Carol believed that training was of the utmost importance, they strived to keep up with the latest latest technology in the roofing industry, by going to trainings at least once a year. Also in the ’80s Gerry was installing the metal restoration system before the system was approved and proved that it could be done before the manufacturers started to offer it as a system. He also worked with PG&E and helped them with their energy rebate programs for reflective roof systems. In 2001 Gerry began developing a bidding program that we still use today.
Joshua along with brothers, Caleb and Josiah, learned the art of roofing at a very young age, thanks to their father, Gerry Thiesen. Gerry mentored and trained others across the country, built a reputable company, and raised three young men with outstanding character. He unfortunately passed away March of 2013. He will always be remembered, and we are so thankful to both him and his wife, Carol Thiesen, for their dedication to this family business. Both Joshua and his wife Brandy Thiesen are grateful to have this opportunity to stand on the foundation of the 35 years of excellence as G & C Enterprises, and have picked up the baton as GC Roofing to continue the heritage for now over a decade.
